We are happy to help you

Have some of your questions not been answered? Perhaps you will find the answer in the FAQ section. Here you will find answers to questions concerning general issues, maintenance, sustainability, safety and guarantees.

    General questions

A click floor gets its name from the way in which the floor is installed. A Rigid floor is a PVC floor which features a hard (rigid) middle layer. All our Rigid floors feature a click connection.

You are completely free to request samples via our website. In addition, our dealers have show boards in their stores, which allow you to compare the floors more effectively. If you would like to see the floor on a larger surface area, then please make an appointment to visit our Experience Center in Dalfsen.

If you would like a TFD floor but cannot or prefer not to use adhesives, then you can opt for the floors in our Magnetic collection or Rigid collection; they feature an IXPE foam layer and can simply be placed on top of a regular (smooth) floor.

If you prefer one of our glue-down floors, you can create the same effect by placing them on top of our LVT fix. This means the floor will not be glued to the under-floor.

Our website features a dealer search engine. TFD floors can be purchased from these dealers.

You can request samples via your TFD dealer or via TFD. You can order them directly from our website, under the collections section.

Naturally, we will be pleased to welcome you – upon appointment – to TFD’s Experience Center. This will give you an opportunity to see your preferred floor on a larger scale. However, you cannot buy directly from us; this must be done via a TFD dealer.

If you have a complaint, this should be reported to your TFD dealer. We will then consult the dealer to see how we can assist you.

TFD floors are ideal in individual homes as well as large-scale projects. Various floors are available with a range of top layers, which means the right solution can also be found for any situation.

All the floors of TFD Floortile are suitable for under-floor heating. If the under-floor heating is based on water circulation, make sure the water temperature does not exceed 35 degrees. Also make sure that pipes are placed deep enough in the cement screed. Note: always follow the heating protocol once the floor has been installed; this is also available from your TFD dealer.

Our floors are produced using the hot press method. This involves pressing several layers of the product against each other (without stress) and then applying a UV and matt PU coating. We prefer this approach because it creates a stable product, with a very natural appearance.

Our Rigid Just Click products can be clicked together, and can simply be placed on top of existing floors without using adhesives.

They must always be dry, and be free of pressure and tensile forces.

A standard PVC floor realises 4 Db, which is insufficient when installed directly on a level floor. When combined with a sub-floor featuring the dB certificate (like our Fix 1.8), PVC floors can easily be used in apartments.

Rigid Just Click floors comply with noise norms for apartments.

They are able to meet the 15 Db norm.  (ISO 1040-1/717/2)

Register embossing is a production method where the structure of the top layer is the same as the design of the film layer. This production method helps to create a very natural appearance. Several of our special products are manufactured in this manner.

All PVC floors will expand and shrink when subjected to heat or cold. PVC is a flexible product but ALWAYS wants to return to the shape in which it was originally produced. This shrinkage and expansion can be countered by using effective adhesives, and by rolling the floor with a roller weighing at least 50 kg during installation. Acclimatisation of PVC floors is also extremely important. Place the floor in the concerned (heated) room at least 48 hours in advance (or in a room with the same temperature as the concerned room). It is advised to not install floors in rooms with temperatures of minus 15 degrees and plus 25 degrees. The rules must certainly be strictly adhered to if you decide to do so! Also shield against direct sunlight in order to avoid major increases in temperature!

    Maintenance

You can perform day-to-day maintenance on TFD floors by vacuuming them or wiping them with a micro-fibre cloth.

It is also possible to use a mop and lukewarm water. You can use the TFD cleaner to remove dirt.

Do not use any household cleaning products.

You can order TFD maintenance products via any TFD dealer. Like all floors, TFD floors must also be maintained and cleaned. The regularity of maintenance and cleaning activities will be determined by how intensively your floor is used.

An effective entrance mat (which comes with e.g. maintenance and cleaning advice) plays an important role in the maintenance process. Unsuitable cleaning products could damage the top player of TFD floors, which will compromise their quality and reduce their life-span. This will also have an impact on the guarantee period. If you use an unsuitable maintenance product, this could also highlight scratches and result in discolouration. You should thus prevent this by using the TFD cleaner. This can be obtained from your dealer.

Make sure you have a suitable (large enough) entrance mat near the door, so people can walk over it when they enter. Make sure suitable floor protectors are placed on chair legs. When vacuuming, make sure you use a soft-brush vacuum head (and make sure the metal or hard plastic area near the suction opening does not come into contact with the floor). Also make sure that suitable protection is placed on rubbish bins and other moveable items, thus preventing mechanical damage.

No floors are scratch proof. To prevent scratches wherever possible, make sure you have a suitable (large enough) entrance mat near the door, so people can walk over it when they enter. Make sure suitable floor protectors are placed on chair legs as well as casters. When vacuuming, make sure you use the soft brush (and make sure the metal or hard plastic area near the suction opening does not come into contact with the floor).

In time, everything that is exposed to UV radiation from the sun will suffer from discolouration. In the long-term, this means PVC floors will also suffer discolouration if exposed to direct sunlight. In this case, it is important to install effective blinds.

You could consider applying a new PU layer. In this case, it is best to have this done by a professional. Ask your dealer about the possibilities.

    Guarantees

We offer an average guarantee of 10 years on our floors, depending on whether they are for private or project-based use, with even longer guarantees available for certain qualities. Further information about the guarantees offered on TFD floors can be found here.

We fully believe in TFD products and supply them together with a guarantee. However, we cannot offer any guarantees on sub-floors because they are entirely beyond our control. In this case, the guarantee must be provided by the installer.

    Sustainability and safety

Our floors are definitely sustainable, and we do not use phthalates as plasticisers. Due to our production method, and the use of 100% Virgin materials, TFD floors are easy to sort and recycle, and can be effectively incorporated into other PVC-based products.

Plasticisers are essential, e.g. to ensure flexibility, when producing PVC floors. The floors of TFD are phthalate-free, which means they are produced without using harmful plasticisers.

TFD floors are produced using high-grade raw materials and are not degraded by recycled materials. TFD is also 100% phthalate-free. TFD floors also comply with all European norms and are completely safe.
